Bryce Young respectfully shuts down critiques questioning his physique, says he has been of th
With less than two weeks left before the start of the new league year, the NFL off-season is creating a lot of buzz around the masses. Within a matter of time, the teams would be put on the clock to make their draft picks and the franchises are working overtime to get themselves prepared for a moment like that. Especially the teams picking in the top 10 drafts, who will have to select a player in the pool of remarkable talents which includes QBs like Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud.
The quarterback class will always be the talking point of the NFL Draft every season. The league has seen teams wasting their precious first-round draft picks on less talented college QBs in hopes of grooming them to be their next franchise quarterback. It rarely works but that doesn’t stop teams from reaching hard for signal-callers. Furthermore, in every draft, there’s always a QB controversy between two or more talented athletes.
Just last season, the sports media had a discussion between the Liberty QB Malik Willis and the Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett. Before that, in 2021, the media had the controversy for the second-best quarterback between three QBs including Justin Fields and Trey Lance. In that trend, this year the question is between the Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud and the Alabama product Bryce Young.
Now Bryce Young has won a Heisman trophy, National Championship, and has countless moments where he made magic happen on the field. So why is there still a question about whether he should get drafted over C.J. Stroud? Well, it’s because of Bryce Young’s build.
Bryce Young is confident in himself
Due to his undersized build, the scouts are reportedly worried about drafting Bryce Young to their team, let alone drafting him as the No.1 overall pick. But Young is not worried about things he can’t control.
“I’ve been this size, respectfully, my whole life,” Young said during the NFL Combine. “I know who I am, I know what I can do. For me, it’s fair. Everyone can speculate, ask me every question. I’m going to continue to control what I can control, continue to keep working my hardest. … I’m confident in myself. I know what I can do.”
Measured at 5’10” and 207 pounds, Young is arguably one of the shortest players to play the QB position. If he gets drafted in the first round he would become the lightest QB taken in the first round since 2006. Furthermore, he would join the Cardinals‘ signal-caller Kyler Murray as the shortest QB drafted since 1967.
