BTS, Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X & More Kick Off the Holiday Season with at 102.7 KIIS FMs Ji
After taking a pause in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour Presented by Capital One was back and in person for a star-studded show to kick off the holiday season in Los Angeles on Friday (December 3).
Thousands of pop music fans flocked to the “Fabulous” Forum in Inglewood to see some of this year’s biggest names in music, including Ed Sheeran, BTS, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, The Kid LAROI, Saweetie, Black Eyed Peas, Tate McRae, Bazzi, and Dixie D’Amelio at 102.7 KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2021.
Despite Dua Lipa receiving a last-minute laryngitis diagnosis and unfortunately dropping out of the show, fans were still eager to sing along to songs by their favorite artists.
The day began with a free pre-show in the venue’s parking lot with performances from artists like CL, Tai Verdes, Trevor Daniel, Calabasas and Anitta, who eventually made her way inside for a surprise set on the main stage.
Starting exactly at 7:32pm, BTS took the stage for their two-song opening set. Thousands of ARMY members came out to support their favorite K-POP band and set the bar high for the artists that were scheduled to follow. The super group kicked off the night with their global No. 1 hit “Butter,” followed by a mini celebration for Jin’s 29th birthday. The KIIS FM staff surprised the singer with a cake and confetti for his special day before closing their set with a holiday rendition of their other No. 1 hit “Dynamite.”
Following BTS, Dixie D’Amelio took the stage for her second time on the Jingle Ball tour, performing songs like “Psycho,” “The Real Thing” and her Christmas single “Naughty List.”
The 20-year-old gave the crowd the ultimate holiday surprise by bringing special guest and sister Charli D’Amelio to dance alongside her and her backup dancers for the rest of her set.
Dixie has been having an absolute blast on tour, and told Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder what it’s been like playing such big venues.
“I don’t even know what to say. I’m so excited,” Dixie shared with Celeb Secrets backstage before her performance. “I never want this to end… I’m having so much fun and I just want to keep going. I love it so much!”
The excitement didn’t stop there, as Saweetie got concertgoers on their feet with a show-stopping performance of her song “Icy Chain” while throwing out Christmas gifts into the audience. The 28-year-old rapper also dedicated her smash hit “Best Friend” to her real life BFF and fellow performer Doja Cat.
Ed Sheeran followed by bringing all the festive vibes by performing his latest single “Merry Christmas.” Bringing a loop pedal and explaining how he was a “one man band” for the evening, the chart-topping artist performed fan favorites like “Shivers,” “Shape Of You,” “Bad Habits” and “Perfect.”
Introduced to the crowd by JoJo Siwa, Lil Nas X captivated the sold-out crowd with his infectious singles like “Industry Baby” and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” followed by his breakout hit “Old Town Road.” It’s crazy to think that the song dropped 3 years ago this month — you wouldn’t know it by the echoing fans singing along to every word. The Grammy Award-winning artist also performed his song “Scoop,” bringing out Doja Cat to sing her feature on the track.
The night closed out with the Black Eyed Peas performing some of their biggest hits from the last decade, including “Where Is The Love,” “Boom Boom Pow,” “Pump It,” and “I Gotta Feeling.”
102.7 KIIS FM’s iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2021 is the second stop of the national iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, the season’s biggest annual music event that captures the holiday spirit of the iHeartRadio app, with performances by this year’s biggest artists in Dallas/Ft. Worth; Los Angeles; Minneapolis/St.Paul; Philadelphia; New York; Boston; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Atlanta and Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.
