Darren Shahlavi Dies of Apparent Overdose; Actor Was 42
Darren Shahlavi, an actor best known for roles on television programs such as Arrow and Mortal Kombat: Legacy, was found dead on January 14 at his home in Los Angeles.
He was 42 years old.
Law enforcement officials confirm to TMZ that Shahlavi is believed to have died via a prescription drug overdose, though few details are available at this time.
Shahlavi started his career as a stuntman in Hong Kong in the 1990s, later moving to the United States to pursue acting.
The Los Angeles County Coroner will soon be conducting toxicology tests before determining the precise cause of death.
Stephen Amell, who appeared opposite Shahlavi on the very first episode of Arrow, Tweeted the following not long after hearing the sad news.
"RIP Darren Shahlavi," wrote Amell. "1st guy I ever fought on Arrow. He was a great dude & a patient, thoughtful partner. Fight looked good because of him."
