Dylan and Shasta Groene Saga Continues
Joseph Duncan has yet to be tried in the case and now he is scheduled to appear in court this morning to enter a plea.
Duncan has already plead guilty for the 2005 kidnapping and killing of Brenda Groene, her son Slade, and her boyfriend Mark McKenzie.
He is still awaiting trial for the kidnapping of Dylan and Shasta, and the subsequent rape and murder of 9-year old Dylan.
Shasta, who was 8 at the time, is the lone survivor.
"If it wasn't for Slade being born I probably wouldn't be who i am because he was just a really good brother to me and he was really sweet to people and we all love him," says Shasta Groene, speaking to media last year on what would have been her oldest brother's birthday.
Duncan has already been convicted in the kidnapping and murder of the other three family members.
He was sentenced to life in prison for those three kidnapping charges and the state court is waiting to see what happens with the Dylan and Shasta case before sentencing him for the murders.
The trial for Dylan and Shasta is being handled in federal court since Duncan had crossed state lines into Montana during the alleged kidnapping in 2005.
Duncan is expected in federal court this morning to enter a plea.
We'll bring you the very latest from this morning's court appearance on CBS 2 Eyewitness News at Noon.
