Ferrari star Charles Leclerc all-set to be the first torch-bearer of the Olympic flame in Monaco

Scuderia Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc is set to become the first-torch bearer of the Olympic flame in Monaco. Leclerc is a Monegasque driver and hails from the land of Monte Carlo.

The Olympic flame is lit in Greece in the city of Olympia and faces a long journey to reach the brazier of the new destination, which will keep it alive for the entire duration of the competition. Onward that journey, the torch passes through Monaco, where Charles Leclerc will bear the fire as an honored citizen of the country, as per Formulapassion.it.

Charles Leclerc won the Monaco Grand Prix this year, which marks the first win for the Monegasque driver in his hometown. In the history of the Olympics, many famous athletes and sportsmen have been honored with the privilege of bearing the Olympic flame.

Leclerc currently stands second in the drivers championship in F1 and is a worthy competitor for the title this season. But contrary to F1, the prestigious Olympic Games go underway in the month of July, which will be hosted by the country of France, marking an exciting worldwide event for people to enjoy.

Charles Leclerc credits Ferrari for 2024 progress

Charles Leclerc has refuted the idea that the progress at Ferrari was the sole result of the drivers’ performances and instead credited the team that carried on the hard work. Ferrari is currently 49 points behind the leader, Red Bull, despite a disappointing performance in Montreal.

I think as a driver from one season to the other, you always improve. However, when you look at the step we've done, this is a lot more down to the team and to the car, as drivers you cannot do such a step. Or that probably means that we're driving really bad last year but no, it's mostly down to the car and to the hard work we've done as a team. 

The Maranello-based team endured a rough patch of performances for the better part of two years coming into the 2024 season but have managed to turnaround their situation in a spectacular manner. The outfit has won two races and scored nine podiums in nine races this season, which already puts them in a better position as compared to the previous campaign.

Charles Leclerc also shared that their performances have improved not just because of their efforts in the current campaign but due to the last seven or eight months of hard work outside the paddock. Ferrari will now look to continue their good run of developments and performances in hopes of silverware towards the end of the season.
