As a gesture of wishing its viewers a very ‘Happy New Year!’ Channel 4 dropped a brand new series of The Great Pottery Throw Down on 2 January 2022. The creative competition series in the style of The Great British Bake Off and The Great British Sewing Bee, but with the craft of pottery, first came around in 2015 and now, it is time for the fifth season. So, Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller are this season’s judges, with Siobhán McSweeney and Ellie Taylor hosting the show, and 12 contestants taking on the Throw Down challenges. Among them is Zahra Jabir. And the rest of the writing is just about and all about her.

Zahra Jabir On The Great Pottery Throw Down

Zahra Jabir is one of the twelve of Britain’s best home potters competing to be crowned best at the wheel for The Great Pottery Throw Down 2022.

AJ Simpson, Bill Thomas, Cellan, Christine Cherry, Jenny Cobb, Josh, Lucinda Lovesey, Miles Johnson, Tom Demeranville, and Anna McGurn joined Zahra on this journey in the British TV program.

On 24 December 2021, Zahra shared her excitement on finally being able to publicly talk about her participation in the show.

Inviting her audience on Instagram to tune into her journey on national television, her on the journey, “So happy to have been a part of this amazing experience 😁 and to finally be able to talk about it 🎉”.

Be that as it may, Zahra’s journey on the game show did not kick off quite well. Because in the first week, she was pronounced as one of the judge’s least favorites of the week. While in the same episode, Lucinda won Pot of the week, Anna and Christine became the judges’ favorites of the week. Zahra, however, got still luckier than Bill, who, unfortunately, got eliminated. The rest, i.e, AJ, Cellan, Jenny, Josh, Miles, Nick, and Tom were safe and through to the next week.

Zahra Jabir Age

Zahra Jabir grew up celebrating her birthday on the 30th of June every year, which makes her a Cancer. In 2021, she turned 32 years old, just as the way her portfolio on The Great Pottery Throw Down puts it.

Is Zahra Jabir Married?

Zahra Jabir had not been married as of the time of this writing. Also, her social media did not hint at any significant other.

Even so, from the look of it, she was likely single around January 2021. Because at the time when she came down with COVID after a “pretty draining run of night shifts” she spent the two weeks between the couch and her bed and only Neo, her cat, had been keeping her company as she got better.

Also, Zahra seemed more like someone who would not mind staying single. She seemed content in her own space. Because, when she is not practicing her profession she has her hobbies of cooking and hosting, gardening accompanying her. And she would also anyway seek solace in trying to keep her indoor plant forest alive and growing her vegetables.

Zahra Jabir Job

Turns out, Zahra Jabir is not as much a pottery professional as most of her co-competitors on the show. She is a medical doctor and enjoys potting as a way of escaping from the pressures of her job.

But then, her website and online merch shop: zahrajabirceramics.com also tells us that she is also a part-time potter and fine artist.

Zahra goes on to write — her journey into ceramics started in 2017 as a creative outlet alongside her career as a medical doctor. She completely fell in love with the whole process and therefore has been doing it ever since.

Additionally, Zahra revealed that her work is influenced by arabesque style combined with the simplicity and functionality of Japanese pottery and with a touch of nature thrown in for good measure.

Zahra Jabir Family

Zahra Jabir claimed that she has been donating all proceeds from sales from pottery to St Luke’s hospice in Sheffield to support their work caring for terminally ill people and their families, in dedication to her “beautiful” mother who was under their care.

On 29 March 2019, Zahra lost her mother, Wijdan Issa at the age of 64. So, on Mother’s Day that year, Zahra especially missed her. Quoting “If you would behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life. For life and death are one, even as the river and sea are one” on Instagram, she also wrote “So glad we finally have a place nearby to feel like we’re visiting my amazing ma ♥️” referring to a newly erected gravestone bench with her mom’s name on it.

Zahra also mentioned her siblings Sarah, Roua, and Mohamad on her socials.
